remind用法：提醒某人去做某事

remind 用法1(remember/ remind)：

問：Don’t forget to (remind/remember) about it?
不知這裡應當用remind，還是應當用remember 。

答：應當記住，remember 的常用句型是：remember to do sth./ doing sth., 在這種句型裡不能用表人的詞語來作它的受詞。remember sb.則是“給⋯ ⋯ 送禮”、“ 給⋯ ⋯小費”的意思; remember sb. to sb.則是指“代⋯⋯ 向某人問候”。

remind 用法的常用句型是remind sb. to do sth., remind sb. of (about) sth. (提醒某人記住⋯⋯ ; 使某人記起⋯⋯) 。例如:

Did you remind him about that book he borrowed ?
你提醒過他他借的那本書了嗎？

remind 用法2(remind of/ remind about)：

問：Don’t forget to remind me about it.
我查了許多英漢詞典，只查到remind sb. of，而未查到remind sb. about。後一用法是否正確？

答：remind sb. of 亦可用作remind sb. about。不過後者不像前者用得那麼普遍。請看下面的實例:

1. may forget to repay the five pounds you lent me unless you remind me of [about] it. 如果你不提醒我，我可能會忘記還給你我借的那5 英鎊錢。
2. did you remind him about that book he borrowed? 你提醒過他他借的那本書了嗎？

remind 用法3(remind…of/ remind…to do)：

問：remind sb. of sth. 與 remind sb. to do sth. 這兩個句型有什麼區別？

答：remind sb. of sth. 主要是指“使某人回憶起過去的事情”：

1. It reminds me of what a woman once said of him. 它使我回憶起一個女人曾經說到過他的話。
2. That story you have just told reminds me of an experience I once had. 你剛剛講的那個故事使我想起了我曾經有過的一段經歷。

但是，有時也可以指“提醒某人注意未來的事件”(見remind of) 。

remind sb. to do sth. 是指“提醒某人去做某事”或“使某人想起去做某事”:

1. Remind me to take my medicine tomorrow. 提醒我明天吃藥。
2. Mrs. Bell reminded her son to go to the store after school. 貝爾太太提醒她的兒子在放學後去商店。
3. The sight of clock reminded me to leave at once. 一看到鐘我才想起來我得馬上走了。

使用remind sb. that 句型也可以表示“提醒某人去做某事”或“ 使某人想起去做某事”：

1. Mrs Bell reminded her son that the had to go to the store after school. 貝爾太太提醒她的兒子在放學後必須去商店。
2. May I remind you that the dinner-bell will ring presently? 我是否可以提醒您用餐的鈴聲馬上就要響了?
3. That reminds me(that) I must write to him. 這使我想起來我必須給他寫信。
